Brazilian Flan

Steps

  1. Heat the sugar on low heat until it melts and becomes a brown, bubbly caramel.
  2. Add 1/2 cup of water to the pan with the melted sugar and leave it for a while until everything is fully melted and smooth.
  3. Pour the resulting caramel into the flan pan, coating the bottom.
  4. In a separate bowl or container, blend all the other ingredients: condensed milk, milk, and eggs. Blend for about three minutes.
  5. Carefully pour the blended mixture over the caramelized sugar in the flan pan.
  6. Cover the flan with foil (shiny side facing inside).
  7. Place the flan pan into a water bath (bain-marie) in an oven.
  8. Bake for one and a half hours.
  9. Carefully remove the flan from the oven, being careful of the hot water.
  10. Allow the flan to cool completely. It can be left overnight or for four to six hours.
  11. Once cooled, cover it again with foil and refrigerate.
