- Heat the sugar on low heat until it melts and becomes a brown, bubbly caramel.
- Add 1/2 cup of water to the pan with the melted sugar and leave it for a while until everything is fully melted and smooth.
- Pour the resulting caramel into the flan pan, coating the bottom.
- In a separate bowl or container, blend all the other ingredients: condensed milk, milk, and eggs. Blend for about three minutes.
- Carefully pour the blended mixture over the caramelized sugar in the flan pan.
- Cover the flan with foil (shiny side facing inside).
- Place the flan pan into a water bath (bain-marie) in an oven.
- Bake for one and a half hours.
- Carefully remove the flan from the oven, being careful of the hot water.
- Allow the flan to cool completely. It can be left overnight or for four to six hours.
- Once cooled, cover it again with foil and refrigerate.
