Steps
- Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- If there is excess fat, drain some off, but leave a little bit for sautéing vegetables.
- Toss in one diced bell pepper and one diced onion along with jarred garlic.
- Sauté these ingredients together for just a couple of minutes.
- Add the pasta sauce to the skillet.
- Pour in two cups of broth.
- Shake the jar of sauce to release all contents, then pour it into the pan.
- Season with 1 Tbsp Italian seasoning, about two-ish tablespoons of dried Parmesan, and salt and pepper to taste.
- Bring the mixture up to a boil.
- Add about half a pound of spaghetti (broken in half).
- Stir the dry pasta as well as possible to ensure it is not clumping together.
- Ensure the pasta is pretty well submerged in the sauce, then cover the skillet with a lid and set a 15-to-20 minute timer.
- Every 3 to 5 minutes during cooking, stop and stir the pasta really well so that the noodles do not stick together or cook unevenly.
- While the pasta is simmering, prepare cheese bread by spreading softened butter on hamburger buns, sprinkling Italian seasoning, adding shredded mozzarella, and a small dash of garlic powder. Toss this in the oven to bake when the pasta has about 5 minutes left on it.
- When the pasta is just about ready, add half a block of cream cheese cut into cubes and stir until it completely melts into the sauce.
