Homemade Black Beans

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Dry black beans
  • 4 cups Water
  • 1/2 Onion
  • a few Garlic cloves
  • a little bit Oil

Steps

  1. Chop up half an onion.
  2. Smash a few cloves of garlic and throw them in the pressure cooker with a little bit of oil on the saute mode to develop color and flavor on the aromatics.
  3. After about five minutes, hit it with spices: 1 teaspoon each of coriander, cumin, smoked paprika, and chili powder.
  4. Cook the spices for two to three minutes until toasted.
  5. Add the black beans and water (a one-to-two ratio).
  6. Set the pressure cooker on full blast. If using dried beans, cook for 30 to 35 minutes; if soaked, cook for 20 to 25 minutes.
  7. Stir in salt after cooking.
