Pit Style BBQ Baked Beans

  • , Bush's Original Baked Beans (2 cans)
  • 1 pound Ground Beef
  • 1 small to medium, chopped Onion
  • 1, diced Bell Pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups Brown Sugar
  • about 1/3 cup or third of a bottle Brown Sugar Honey Habanero Glaze
  • approx. 2/3 to 3/4 cup total Sweet Barbecue Sauce
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons Sweet Barbecue Rub
  • a little bit (to cut flavor) Mustard
  • 4 pieces, cut into small pieces Bacon

Steps

  1. Drain all the juice from two cans of Bush's Original Baked Beans.
  2. In a disposable pan or cast iron skillet/pot, combine the drained beans with 1 pound of ground beef, one chopped onion, and one diced bell pepper.
  3. Add 1 1/2 cups of brown sugar to the mixture.
  4. Stir in about 1/3 cup (or third of a bottle) of Brown Sugar Honey Habanero Glaze.
  5. Add approximately 2/3 cup of sweet barbecue sauce and 2 to 3 tablespoons of sweet barbecue rub, mixing well.
  6. Add a little bit of mustard to the mixture.
  7. Stir in an additional 1/4 cup (to reach a total of 3/4 cup) of barbecue sauce.
  8. Top the bean mixture with four pieces of cut-up bacon.
  9. Place the pan on a smoker set at 250°F using charcoal pellets and smoke for approximately 5 to 6 hours, stirring after about 1.5 hours.
