Steps

  1. Season the chicken with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. In a bowl, beat 2 eggs until well combined.
  3. Add 2 cups of buttermilk to the beaten eggs and mix together until all ingredients are well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of pepper, 2 tablespoons of garlic powder, and 1.5 tablespoons of paprika. Whisk carefully to ensure even distribution.
  5. Set up the dredging station with chicken pieces, the buttermilk/egg mixture, and the dry flour/seasoning mix.
  6. Take a piece of chicken and coat it thoroughly in the buttermilk/egg mixture using one hand (the 'wet' hand). Let excess drip off.
  7. Switch hands and use the other hand (the 'dry' hand) to coat the chicken with the dry flour/seasoning mixture. Toss until fully coated.
  8. Tap the chicken before removing it from the dry mix to shake off any extra flour.
  9. Place the breaded chicken pieces on a sheet pan or plate, and repeat the process for all remaining chicken pieces.
  10. Lightly coat both sides of the prepped chicken with olive oil spray.
  11. Spray the inside of the air fryer basket lightly with olive oil spray.
  12. Add the chicken to the air fryer basket, ensuring each piece has space around it for proper hot air circulation.
  13. Set the air fryer temperature to 360°F and set the timer for 20 minutes.
  14. Check the chicken halfway through cooking. If desired, flip the legs of the chicken.
  15. Continue cooking until the internal temperature reaches a minimum of 165°F.
