Roasted Italian Meatballs

Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound Ground sirloin
  • 1/4 pound Ground pork
  • 1/4 pound Ground veal
  • 1 cup Dried bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup Ground Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup Ground Pecorino cheese
  • 1 Beaten egg
  • 1 clove Garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/3 cup Red wine (Italian)
  • as needed Olive oil
  • as needed Bottled marinara sauce

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the ground sirloin, ground pork, and ground veal.
  2. Add the dried bread crumbs, ground Parmesan cheese, ground Pecorino cheese, beaten egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, pepper, water, and red wine to the meat mixture.
  3. Mix all ingredients together lightly with a fork; do not overmix so the meatballs don't become dense.
  4. Using an ice cream scoop or rolling your hands, form rounded scoops of the meat mixture into meatballs.
  5. Brush the formed meatballs with oil.
  6. Place the meatballs in a baking dish and roast them in the oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 to 30 minutes until browned.
  7. Transfer the roasted meatballs to a pot containing simmering marinara sauce.
  8. Simmer the meatballs in the marinara sauce for 10 minutes.
