Seared Tuna Steaks

Ingredients

  • 2 Tuna steaks
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
  • to taste Paprika
  • to taste Sesame seeds
  • as needed Olive oil
  • a little bit Vinegar (rice vinegar or red wine vinegar)
  • some Soy sauce
  • some Sesame oil
  • some Lemon juice
  • a little bit Wasabi paste or mustard

Steps

  1. Prepare the dry rub by mixing salt, pepper, paprika, and sesame seeds until uniform.
  2. Prepare the sauce for the tuna by combining olive oil, vinegar (rice vinegar or red wine vinegar), soy sauce, sesame oil, lemon juice, and wasabi paste (or mustard).
  3. Pat the tuna steaks dry with a paper towel to ensure they are not moist.
  4. Dip each tuna steak into the prepared sauce, ensuring it is covered on all sides.
  5. Coat the sauced tuna steaks in the dry rub, making sure it is coated on all sides.
  6. Spray the seasoned tuna down with oil to prevent sticking.
  7. Preheat a grill until very hot (coals should be white-hot).
  8. Grill the first side of the tuna for approximately 1.5 minutes.
  9. Flip the steaks and cook the second side for about 2.5 minutes.
  10. After cooking on one side, flip the steaks again and give them an additional 45 seconds.
