Turkish Flatbread

Ingredients

  • 20 oz (570 g) All purpose flour
  • 1 3/5 cups (400 ml) Warm water
  • 1/2 tsp (3 g) Sugar
  • 1 tsp (5 g) Salt
  • 3.5 oz (100 g) Butter
  • 1/5 cup (50 ml) Vegetable oil

Steps

  1. Gradually add flour and stir.
  2. Knead the dough by hand. If the dough is too sticky, add some flour. Continue kneading for a few minutes until the dough is soft and not sticky.
  3. Cover the dough and leave it to rest for 15 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle the table with flour and divide the dough into 8 equal parts.
  5. Make balls of dough and cover them so they do not dry out.
  6. Roll out the dough thinly, making movements from the center to the edges.
  7. Melt the butter (3.5 oz / 100 g) and add the vegetable oil (1/5 cup / 50 ml). Brush the dough with this mixture.
  8. Roll the dough into a tube.
  9. Make a shell shape by pressing with your hands.
  10. Roll out the bread to a diameter of 9 inches (23 cm).
  11. Grease a frying pan with oil and add the raw bread.
  12. Brush the second side of the bread with butter.
  13. Cook over medium heat until golden brown, about 2 minutes for each flatbread.
