Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the warm water and dry active yeast. Give it a little swish.
  2. Let the mixture set for five minutes in a warm environment (e.g., covered with a plate).
  3. While the yeast is proofing, add all-purpose flour, sugar, salt, olive oil, and beaten egg to your mixer or bowl.
  4. Mix until combined, then add the activated yeast mixture to the ingredients.
  5. Turn on the mixer and let the dough knead for a few minutes. Continue mixing until it pulls away from the sides of the bowl and is soft and smooth.
  6. If the dough is too sticky, add flour one teaspoon at a time; if you added too much, add water.
  7. Take the dough out onto a lightly floured counter and divide it into four pieces.
  8. Lightly spray a 7x5 baking dish. Take each piece of dough, pull it out slightly, fold over two sides, then the other two sides, and form a nice round ball.
  9. Place the dough balls in the prepared pan and repeat until all are placed.
  10. Cover the rolls and let them rest for about 10 minutes (you can place them in a warm oven with the light on).
  11. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  12. Bake the rolls for about 15 minutes, or until they are nice and golden brown.
  13. Once out of the oven, spread melted butter over the top of the rolls.
