Kartoffelpuffer

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds (900 grams) Potatoes
  • 1/2 of a large onion Onion
  • 3 Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Flour
  • 4 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 teaspoon Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Salt

Steps

  1. Grate the potatoes using a small hole grater.
  2. Grate the onion using the same method as the potatoes.
  3. Squeeze out excess water from the grated potatoes.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add the grated onions to the dry ingredients and mix.
  6. Quickly beat the eggs and add them to the mixture while continuing to stir.
  7. Heat a large frying pan over medium heat and melt one tablespoon of butter in it.
  8. Using a spoonful, scoop some batter into the hot pan and pat it down to about 1/2 inch thick.
  9. Fry the potato pancakes for 2 to 3 minutes until they are golden brown on both sides. Flip them over after two minutes.
  10. Cook the second side for another 2 to 3 minutes, or until fully cooked.
