One-Skillet Potato and Ground Beef Bake

Ingredients

  • 14 oz Ground beef
  • 2 Tbsp Butter
  • 2 Tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 Onion
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 4 Medium potatoes
  • Half of the total amount (divided) Cream
  • As needed Mozzarella cheese (or cheddar)
  • To taste Salt
  • To taste Black pepper
  • To taste Paprika
  • For garnish Fresh parsley

Steps

  1. Heat 1 Tbsp butter and 2 Tbsp olive oil in a skillet.
  2. Add the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 5–6 minutes until browned.
  3. In a separate pan or using some of the remaining fat, add 1 Tsp butter and finely chopped onion. Cook for 3–4 minutes until soft.
  4. Mince the garlic and add it to the beef mixture. Cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Slice the potatoes thinly.
  6. Transfer the cooked ground beef and onions to a baking dish or skillet, spreading it out evenly.
  7. Layer sliced potatoes on top of the meat, slightly overlapping.
  8. Pour half of the cream over the potatoes. Sprinkle with half of the mozzarella cheese (or cheddar).
  9. Add another layer of sliced potatoes.
  10. Season with a little salt and paprika to taste.
  11. Pour in the remaining cream.
  12. Cover the skillet/dish and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30–40 minutes.
  13. Remove the cover, sprinkle with additional cheese, and return to the oven for 10 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  14. Garnish with fresh parsley.
