Slow Cooker Pork Carnitas

  • 4 lb Pork butt
  • juice of two oranges Orange juice
  • 1/4 cup Milk
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 3 tbsp Pork fat
  • 4 Garlic cloves
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Salt
  • 2 Bay leaves

Steps

  1. Sprinkle salt over the pork.
  2. Set your burner to medium-high heat and add the pork fat.
  3. Add the pork to the hot fat and sear for 6 to 8 minutes, then flip and continue cooking for another four minutes (total searing time should be between 10 and 15 minutes).
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the milk, water, orange juice, garlic, bay leaves.
  5. Pour the mixture over the seared pork in the slow cooker.
  6. Set the slow cooker to low for 8 hours (or overnight).
  7. Once cooked, keep it on warm.
