Steps
- Fill a pot with water and bring it to a boil.
- Carefully lower the eggs into the boiling water, cooking for your desired doneness: 6-7 minutes for soft boiled (jammy yolk), 9-10 minutes for medium boiled (creamy center), or 12-13 minutes for hard boiled.
- Transfer the cooked eggs to an ice bath to stop the cooking process.
- Let the eggs cool down, then peel them and set them aside.
- In a pan over medium-low heat, melt a generous amount of butter until it starts to bubble gently.
- Add paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, white pepper, and oregano to the melted butter. Stir in the spices and let them cook for about one minute to bloom their flavors.
- If using, toss in shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend) and stir until it melts into the butter and spices, creating a thick sauce.
- Add the peeled boiled eggs to the pan with the Cajun butter sauce.
- Gently roll the eggs around in the sauce, ensuring every egg is completely coated. Let them sit for one to two minutes, rolling occasionally so they absorb the flavors.
