- diced onion
- diced bell pepper
- eggs
- milk
- 1 cup flavored crackers (e.g., Ritz/Rich) or panko
- Worcestershire sauce
- to taste salt

Steps
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Dice onion and bell pepper small (fine dice for more flavor).
- In a large bowl combine ground beef, diced onion, diced bell pepper, eggs, milk, crushed crackers, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Mix gently until just combined — do not overwork the meat.
- Shape mixture into a loaf and place in a baking dish.
- Optional: refrigerate loaf for 30 minutes to help it set before baking.
- Bake at 350 degrees F for 45 minutes.
- While meatloaf bakes, mix brown sugar into the sweet topping sauce.
- After 45 minutes, remove from oven and brush the top generously with the sweet sauce.
- Raise oven temperature to 400 degrees F.
- Return meatloaf to oven and bake an additional 15 minutes, checking every 5 minutes, until the top is set and caramelized.
- Verify internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F.
- Let cool slightly, slice with a serrated knife, and serve.
