Steps

  1. Sauté the onion until softened.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet. Drain any excess grease if desired.
  3. Add garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the browned meat mixture and cook until fully cooked.
  4. Stir in about one-third of the jar of pasta sauce until it coats all the meat.
  5. Break the lasagna noodles and nestle them into the meat mixture.
  6. Pour the rest of the pasta sauce over the noodles, adding 30 to half a cup of water from the jar to help cover everything.
  7. Cover the pan, reduce heat to medium-low, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes until the lasagna noodles are tender.
  8. In a separate bowl, flavor ricotta cheese with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and fresh basil or parsley if desired. Mix well.
  9. After about 25 minutes of simmering, dollop the seasoned ricotta over the top of the mixture.
  10. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese over the ricotta.
  11. Cover the pan again, keep on low heat, and let it finish cooking for about 5 minutes.
  12. Garnish with fresh parsley and let sit for a couple of minutes before serving.
