Black Gram and Potato Vegetable

Ingredients
- 4 pieces potatoes
- 1 cup black gram
- 4 tbsp oil
- bay leaves
- 2 cardamoms
- 1 tsp cumin seeds
- 3 large onions
- 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 cup tomato paste
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- to taste red chilli powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1/3 tsp black pepper powder
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/3 tsp garam masala powder
- finely chopped coriander leaves
- 1 tbsp or to taste salt

Steps
- Heat a pressure cooker pan with 2 tbsp oil. Fry potatoes until light golden brown, then remove.
- Add 3 tbsp oil to the cooker. Dry fry bay leaves, cardamoms, and cumin seeds lightly.
- Add finely chopped onions and fry on medium flame until golden brown.
- Add ginger garlic paste and fry well.
- Add tomato paste and all spices (turmeric, red chilli, cumin, black pepper, coriander, garam masala). Cover and fry on low flame until masala changes color.
- Add fried potatoes and soaked black gram. Mix well with the masala.
- Add water slightly above the level of gram. Close cooker lid and cook on high flame for 4 whistles.
- Turn off gas and let pressure cooker cool down on its own.
- Open and garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves. Mix and serve.
