Mongolian Beef

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak
  • 1/4 cup corn starch
  • 1/2 cup tamari soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp blackstrap molasses
  • 1 tsp freshly minced ginger
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 3 green onions
  • white rice

Steps

  1. Slice the flank steak against the fibers about a quarter inch thick, optionally dividing it if too wide.
  2. Coat the meat with 1/4 cup corn starch, tossing to fully coat.
  3. Heat a wok or pan over medium-high heat, add 2 tbsp avocado oil.
  4. Cook the meat in batches until crispy on each side.
  5. Add the sauce to the wok, simmer for 4-5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Return the cooked steak to the wok, stir with the sauce for a minute.
  7. Add green onions, stir, and serve over white rice.
